XOXO

Support

Two people share a mood. Tap a face; your partner sees it on their phone, their widgets and their Lock Screen.

Common questions

How do we pair?
One of you taps Make room, the other Join room. Then any of three: hold the two phones next to each other and the host taps Let them in; the host taps Send a link and the other taps it in Messages; or read the code off the host's screen and type it in. Both phones need to be signed in to iCloud, on different Apple Accounts, and both need XOXO installed before a link will open it.
My partner can't join with the code.
Codes last 15 minutes. Tap New code on the host's phone and try again.
Holding the phones together does nothing.
Both phones need to be on the pairing screens at the same time, and both need to have allowed XOXO to use the local network when iOS asked. iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → XOXO. The code always works as a fallback.
No notification when they change their mood.
Check that XOXO is allowed to send notifications in iPhone Settings. The app suppresses banners while you're already looking at it, so try with the phone locked.
What is the 8 PM reminder?
If you haven't opened XOXO by 8 PM and you have a streak going, your phone reminds you before it ends at midnight. Opening the app any time that day means no reminder. Turn it off in Settings › Streak reminder.
Where do I make my character?
The tour asks for it right after pairing, and it lives under Settings → My art afterwards. Choose eyes and hair, pick a photo, and every face you own is drawn from it, on your phone, with Apple Intelligence. Phones without Apple Intelligence can use Memoji or an emoji for each face instead.
Drawing takes a while on the first face.
The first drawing of a session loads Apple's on-device model, which can take up to twenty seconds. The faces after it are quick.
Can I change my name?
Before pairing, in Settings. Once the two of you are linked, names stay put so your partner's card and widgets never change under them.
When do new faces arrive?
By the clock, from the moment you paired: Hungry after a day, Angry after three, Miss You after a week, and on for a year. Potions can pour any face early.
Are gems shared? Can I buy them?
Shared, yes: one wallet for the two of you, and either of you can spend it. Gems come from opening the app each day, and from version 1.0.3 they are also sold in the Shop: 100, 550 or 1,200 gems ($0.99, $4.99 or $9.99 in the US; the Shop shows your local price). Apple handles the payment. Leaving the couple deletes the wallet, bought gems included, and the app says so before you leave.
What are the odds in a potion?
A potion pours one of the 54 faces below. The 15 potion-only faces are rare: 0.5% each, 7.5% together. The other 39 share the rest, about 2.4% each. A face you already own can come up again; a repeat becomes vibe ore, and three ore of one kind pour another potion. A potion costs 80 gems, and the first one is free. The same list is in the app under Settings › Odds.

How do I add the Lock Screen widget?
Press and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, tap the strip under the clock, and choose XOXO. The Lock Screen draws every widget in the clock's colour, so faces appear as silhouettes there.
